Einride Launches in Benelux with World’s Leading Brewer, AB InBev to Lead Electric Transport Transformation in the Region
Freight mobility technology company Einride, a leading provider of digital, electric and autonomous shipping, enters Europe’s main transportation hub, Benelux.
The announcement comes as the European Union has cut greenhouse gas emissions in every sector except transport, with road freight remaining the biggest emitter within the category.
Launching together with the world's leading brewer, AB InBev. The partnership is expected to save 500 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually with its fully electric fleet.
December 1, 2022 – Einride, the freight mobility technology company that provides digital, electric, and autonomous shipping, today announced its launch in Benelux together with the world's leading brewer, AB InBev. With Einride’s fully electric fleet of connected, heavy duty trucks the partnership is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 500 tonnes annually.
“Benelux is the beating heart of Europe and the place to drive change across the European Union,” said Robert Falck, CEO and Founder of Einride. “In the last ten years, the union has cut greenhouse gas emissions in every sector but transport, which has only increased, with road freight transport remaining by far the biggest emitter. It's high time to take action in order to achieve the target of halving emissions by 2030. With our industry leading technology that has been electric from the start we look forward to contributing to substantial emission reductions so that Europe can take the lead in the global race to net zero.”
Partnering with the world’s leading brewer, AB InBev
Early 2023, the world’s leading brewer, AB InBev, will partner with Einride to take the lead in the at-scale deployment of heavy-duty electric transport on Belgian soil. The first phase will kick off the full deployment of Einride’s ecosystem which includes its freight mobility platform, six connected electric Einride Trucks, and the development, installation, and building of the charging infrastructure. The trucks will be deployed in the Leuven and Brussels areas and support the company’s ambition to achieve net zero across its supply chain by 2040.
"We only invest in non-diesel transport and are going for zero in our emissions. As we are starting the broad deployment of electric vehicles for city deliveries next year, the partnership with Einride for electric heavy duty transportation on the middle mile is the next step in our green logistics strategy. If the environment we operate in becomes greener, the ingredients for our beer will benefit," said Philippe Seminck, Logistics Director Benelux and France, AB InBev.
Einride’s first-of-its-kind shipping ecosystem
By building grids powered by a first-of-its-kind ecosystem — the intelligent platform Einride Saga, electric and autonomous fleets, charging infrastructure and connectivity networks — Einride unlocks a resilient, cost-effective shipping future already today. The company is the leading operator of heavy-duty electric transport in Sweden and the U.S. and recently announced launches in Germany and Norway. Across these markets, Einride counts industry giants such as Electrolux and GE Appliances, a Haier company, among its customers. Einride partners have seen an up to 90% decrease in CO2 emissions while remaining cost competitive. The partnership with AB InBev in Belgium is just the beginning of Einride's expansion into the region, where it soon plans to make an even more significant contribution to redesigning the transport sector by adding more customers in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Einride designs, develops and deploys technologies for freight mobility. By building grids powered by a first-of-its-kind ecosystem — the intelligent platform Einride Saga, electric and autonomous fleets, charging infrastructure and connectivity networks – a resilient, cost-effective shipping future is unlocked. Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy an autonomous, electric vehicle on a public road in 2019 and became the first company to receive approval to operate the vehicle on a U.S. public road in 2022.
